Everyone knows that losing weight is not an easy thing to do. Over the years, I have heard from a number of sources that have said that diets do not work. I find this to be very true. After you are done with the diet, you go back to eating your normal way. These diets do not really help and teach you what you really need to know to lose weight. Many are just money making programs.
I recently have lost weight and I have done it simply by watching my portions. I am not saying anything new here, but I think it is worth repeating since so many people fail with diets. Over the years, I have always shed pounds just by eating less. There is definitely a lot of truth to eating less carbohydrates and losing weight. I stopped having second portions, especially at dinner time. When I go back to eating more than what I really need, that is when I notice that I put the pounds back on.
I have heard many people say that you can eat anything and everything as long as you watch your portions. This is somewhat true, but I find that I will lose faster if I eat more fruits and vegetables as compared to pasta and bread. You will definitely lose weight by cutting the portions, but eating foods with little carbohydrates is much better for you. Many diets offer foods that are high in partially hydrogenised oils which aren’t good for you. Many are also processed with a lot of sodium and other chemicals.
Just a few months ago in the winter, I started noticing that my clothes were getting tighter on me. I tried on my shorts from last summer and they did not fit. I could not zipper them. I figured if I did not lose weight, I would have to buy a whole new summer wardrobe. It is very easy to put on weight in the winter. After dinner, instead of going outside to walk or do gardening, I sit in front of the television or computer. Besides, not watching my portions, I was not exercising like I should. Fortunately, I starting eating less throughout the day and I lost about five pounds. I need to lose more but I am glad that I was able to fit back into my clothes.
Many people are correct in saying that diets do not work. All the people that I know who were on diets, did lose weight at the time. When they got off of it, they put the weight right back on. The best way to lose weight is just to cut your portions in half. The first few days will be rough, because your body is used to eating more and you will desire to go for a second portion. After a week or two, you will find it much easier and you will get into a pattern of eating less. I have gotten to the point now that I do not like that stuffed feeling anymore from over eating. I am glad that my body is now adjusting to small portions.
Losing weight is a task that needs both dedication and caution and most people, just to avoid discomfort, are too lazy to go through important exercises or too reckless in their attempts.
